How Do You Communicate Product Changes?

The flooring industry has had many product changes in the past few years.  Along with this, changing construction practices for building or remodeling a home affect the installation and performance of new flooring.

A disconnect appears between manufacturing and the installation crews when these changes happen.  New instructions are in the box, but many times the installer assumes it is the same product he or she has installed many times, so they do not read the new instructions.

Often, the sales reps that call on flooring dealers are not up to date with the changes. This results in the new installation information not getting passed along.  Their job often emphasizes the features and benefits of the product, glazing over manufacturer’s installation recommendations.

What do you and your company do to ensure a smooth transition from manufacturing down through the installation crew to make sure the end user is happy with their decision for years to come?  How does your company implement changes in the product’s installation process through the supply chain?
